Welcome to Little House Republic.
We’re Keryn and Alistair McIlroy, custodians of the land that Little House Republic calls home. Alongside our three children, we live and farm here in Scott River, running a regenerative cattle operation and nurturing this special pocket of the South West.
This property is deeply personal to us. Keryn was born and raised here, growing up amongst its wild coastal beauty and wide open spaces. Alistair grew up farming in Esperance, and after meeting at boarding school, we spent our early years travelling the world together before settling in Margaret River, where we built and ran a business for over a decade while raising our young family.
Five years ago, we felt the unmistakable pull back to Scott River — drawn by the land, the sea and the opportunity to give our children the same grounded, nature-filled upbringing we both value so deeply.
Little House Republic is an extension of that story — a reflection of our commitment to regeneration, thoughtful design and living gently with the land.
Regeneration guides everything we do — from the way we farm, to the way we host. We believe tourism can contribute positively to rural communities and landscapes, and we are passionate about protecting this place for generations to come.
Our days are shaped by the seasons — by farming, tending gardens, walking bush tracks, watching the swell and living closely with the rhythms of this landscape. It is this deep connection to place that underpins the way we welcome our guests.
In a world that feels increasingly busy and demanding, we believe there is deep value in protecting spaces that allow people to truly exhale. There is something powerful about waking to birdsong instead of notifications, walking in nature instead of scrolling screens, and sitting quietly beneath big country skies.
One of the greatest joys of what we do is hearing guests tell us that their stay was exactly what they needed — that they slept deeply, reconnected, slowed down, or left feeling restored. Providing a space that feels nurturing and grounding is something we don’t take lightly. As life grows faster and fuller, we feel a strong responsibility to protect this place — not only for our own children, but for every guest who comes here seeking space, stillness and perspective.
Little House Republic is more than a place to stay — it is an invitation to slow down, breathe deeply and experience the quiet magic of Scott River.
We look forward to welcoming you...
